News Film Apple Will Smith

Starring Will Smith, "Emancipation" had its premiere delayed by Apple. The film, expected for the second half of 2022, should only come out in 2023. There is still no set date for the release.

The information is from Variety. Apple's decision came a month after the actor was suspended for 10 years from the Oscars ceremony. This year, Will slapped Chris Rock after hearing a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett's appearance at the awards.

Initially, "Emancipation" was seen as Apple's big bet for the 2023 Oscars. This year, the company won its first statuette for Best Picture with "Coda - In the Rhythm of the Heart".

The feature is directed by Antoine Fuqua, responsible for "A Day in Training" (2001), starring Denzil Washington. According to Variety, a director who saw clips of the film said, before the Oscar fight, that "Will will win from head to toe" in awards season with his performance.

So far, Apple has not commented on the matter. Despite the confusion at the Oscars, Will Smith won the statuette for Best Actor for his performance in "King Richard: Raising Champions" (2021). In a statement, the star said, crying: "at your highest moment, be careful: that's when the devil comes to call you".
