Paramount Pictures' streak in US cinemas is in full swing. The studio seems to gain momentum with each new title. "Sonic 2. Fast as lightning" won a sensational 71 million dollars for good morning. This amount is much higher than predicted before the weekend. And the best Paramount movie start since 2014 and "Transformers: Age of Extinction".

"Sonic 2" broke the same opening record for a video game adaptation. The previous one belonged to the first part of "Sonic" and amounted to 58 million dollars. The movie hit theaters just before the pandemic started, so its combined revenue ($ 149 million) does not reflect the franchise's true potential. The second movie should beat this result without any problems. The more so because it has fantastic ratings (A in CinemaScore).

After three days, "Sonic 2. Fast As Lightning" is Paramount's second highest-grossing title this year. It only needs $ 10 million to overcome The Scream.

A completely different mood prevails at Universal Pictures' headquarters. Michael Bay's "ambulance" was lost in theaters. Already in the forecasts no success was foretold. However, the actual result is much worse. Instead of $ 12 million, "Ambulance" won just $ 8.7 million.

Why such a bad result? Perhaps because the film is to be broadcasted just 17 days after its cinematic premiere. So the viewers have no incentive to go to the cinema, as soon as they see it comfortably at home.

However, "Ambulance" has a chance for small drops. Those viewers who decided to watch it gave it in CinemaScore A-.

"Morbius" is doing terrible. During the second weekend, the comic book show lost as much as 74% of its proceeds. So in total, it is only $ 57 million. The chance for a hundred million from American cinemas is nowhere to be seen.

On the other hand, "Everything everywhere at once" becomes one of the biggest box office hits of the A24 studio. After the distribution expanded to 1,212 theaters, revenues from a million dollars a week ago jumped to six million. In total, he has $ 8.4 million in his account.

Already on Wednesday, the film "Father Stu" about a boxer who became a priest, directed mainly to Christian audiences, will hit theaters. He starred in Mark Wahlberg and is accompanied on-screen by Mel Gibson. On Friday, the fairy-tale spectacle "Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore's Secrets" will appear. The film debuted in the world last week and after five days it has at least 58 million dollars to its credit.
