Ski accident: Gwyneth Paltrow wins in court

Gwyneth Paltrow (50) has won the trial of a collision on a ski slope. After eight days of testimony, a grand jury in Park City, Utah, ruled in the lawsuit filed by retired eye doctor Dr. Terry Sanderson said the actress and entrepreneur was not to blame.

The 76-year-old had claimed Paltrow ran him over at Deer Valley Resort in 2016, causing him ongoing health problems. He initially sought $3.3 million in damages in 2019, but that lawsuit was dismissed. A second process was now about the sum of 300,000 US dollars (about 280,000 euros).

Paltrow filed a countersuit, demanding a token dollar. The actress' attorney told the court that Sanderson drove into his client in the accident, not the other way around.

Hollywood star is "satisfied"
In a statement she shared on an Instagram story after the trial, Paltrow said she was "satisfied with the outcome and appreciates the hard work of Judge Holmberg and the jury," thanking them for their care in handling this case. According to BBC News, Sanderson said the verdict was "very disappointing".

"Star Trek" series "Strange New Worlds" and "Lower Decks" extended

Paramount+ has renewed the Star Trek flagship series Strange New Worlds. As the streaming service announced on Twitter, among other things, the show about fan favorite Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount, 50) and the crew of the spaceship Enterprise, which started in 2022, will also have a third season. In the same breath, Paramount+ announced that the second season of the series will start in Germany and the rest of the world on June 15 this year.

"Star Trek: Lower Decks" also continues
The Star Trek animated comedy series Lower Decks has also been renewed for a fifth season. In addition, Paramount + limited the premiere date for the upcoming fourth season. In "late summer" the new episodes about the much less important adventures of the crew of the USS Cerritos will appear.

Currently, the upcoming fourth season of Lower Decks is expected to air on Amazon Prime Video. But a change to the streaming service Paramount+, which was launched in Germany on December 8 last year, is also possible. The animated "Star Trek" series "Prodigy" will also return next winter with the second season, as Paramount+ has also announced.

New "The Masked Singer" costume: The mushroom is also trying its luck

"If someone is lucky, then this mask will definitely be there," says the official Instagram account of "The Masked Singer", on which ProSieben recently announced another costume. The mushroom also wants to "show what's really in it" in the upcoming eighth season.

This time, the post does not contain any information about the star hiding under the elaborately designed mask. The contribution only ends with the question of whether the fungus will outgrow itself, which the other candidates will probably also ask themselves.

Overall, the costume looks rather cute and shy with its big button eyes and a slight smile. Garment master Alexandra Brandner needed "10,000 scales" for this, which she "cut out individually, then reinforced and placed on top of each other", she is quoted by the broadcaster as saying.

These masks are also already known
The spring season of "The Masked Singer" starts on April 1, 2023 at 8:15 p.m. on ProSieben. The mushroom will then compete against the seahorse, the hedgehog, the shoebill, the raccoon and the kangaroo, among others.

The guessing team is again made up of Ruth Moschner (46) and Rea Garvey (49). Matthias Opdenhövel (52) moderates the show.

Elijah Wood: "Lord of the Rings" star has secretly become a father again

One of the most important events in life can hardly be announced more casually. "Lord of the Rings" star Elijah Wood (42) revealed to the "Wall Street Journal" that he had become a father for the second time. "We have a three-year-old son and a 14-month-old daughter," Wood explained, which means the birth of his second child must have taken place towards the end of 2021.

Elijah Wood: "I like to get up early"
Unfortunately, further information such as the name of his daughter could not be elicited from the Frodo actor. However, Wood said the newborn would "wake up early" for him and partner Mette-Marie Kongsved, 31. But this is not a problem, because the 42-year-old says he "likes to get up early".

Wood and Danish film producer Kongsved have been dating since 2018. The couple is said to have met on the set of Wood's Netflix film Strange to the World, which Kongsved produced. In 2019, son Evan was born, who now has a little sister.

After snow plow accident: Jeremy Renner is back on the treadmill

US actor Jeremy Renner (52) shows on Instagram that his recovery from his serious snow plow accident in early January is progressing. The "Avengers" star suffered more than 30 broken bones. Now he posted a video in an Instagram story in which he can be seen on an anti-gravity treadmill. Thanks to the reduced gravity, the device enables painless and stress-free walking or running training. Renner confirmed in the clip that he was able to walk thanks to the special treadmill.

In the post, the 52-year-old added: "Now is the time for my body to rest and recover from my will." Since his accident on New Year's Day, the actor had regularly shared updates on his health and recovery on social media. In February, for example, he already showed himself in an Instagram story with devices attached to his calf and thigh to stimulate the muscles.

Jeremy Renner has his snow plow back
The accident happened near Jeremy Renner's home in Reno, Nevada. According to the Washoe County Sheriff, the actor was trying to climb back into his snowplow when it began to roll away and rolled toward his nephew. Renner had fallen under the vehicle, which was said to weigh more than six tons, and was seriously injured.

Last week, the "Hawkeye" star also revealed in an Instagram story that he got the snow plow back. He shared two pictures of the snowplow and added, "She's finally making her way home!" The accident vehicle even received a police escort for the trip back, he explained. The police had taken the snow groomer to investigate the accident in January.
