Disney CEO Bob Iger reveals: These animated films will continue

On Wednesday, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced during a conference call that some animated films will continue. The studio is said to be already working on the developments for "Frozen", "Toy Story" and "Zoomania".

Elsa, Buzz Lightyear and Judy Hopps are making a return: fans of the popular characters have every reason to be happy because there will be more from Disney. This was announced by Bob Iger, CEO of the American media company, at a meeting with investors, as reported by "Entertainment Weekly".

The blockbusters "Frozen", "Toy Story" and "Zoomania" will be continued. "We'll be sharing more about these productions soon," Iger said, adding that the films are a great example of how Disney relies on franchises and successful brands.

It's not too surprising that the animated films will continue: "Frozen" is one of the most successful Disney productions and grossed 1.276 billion US dollars worldwide. It is the highest-grossing film of 2013 and ranks first among Walt Disney Animation Studios' highest-grossing films, ahead of "Zoomania" and "The Lion King".

"Zoomania" grossed $1.025 billion and became a spin-off series on Disney+. In 2017 it was awarded an Oscar for "Best Animated Film". The films from the "Toy Story" universe were also a great success, with the third and fourth parts of the series each grossing more than one billion US dollars.

Despite good quarterly results, Iger also announced that Disney is cutting 7,000 jobs to achieve $5.5 billion in savings. In addition, an attraction to James Cameron's "Avatar" is to be created at Disneyland in Anaheim, California.

Paul Rudd: His kids don't care about his fame

News

Paul Rudd joked that his kids don't care that he's a Hollywood star.

The 53-year-old actor - who has been married to screenwriter Julie Yaeger since 2003 and has children Jack, 17, and Darby, 13, with her, is known for starring in Marvel Cinematic's 'Ant-Man' films playing Universe movies.

However, Rudd's children would not show any interest because the actor was "just dad" to them. The celebrity told PEOPLE magazine: "I think to them I'm more dad than Ant-Man or in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). Yes. They don't care and it shouldn't be! " Meanwhile, the 'Wanderlust' star - who was named PEOPLE magazine's 'Sexiest Man Alive' in 2021 - added that his career has been a 'wild ride' for him.

Paul emphasized that being part of the MCU has given him numerous opportunities that aren't normally possible. "It's like that kind of thing doesn't just happen, so it's been almost 10 years now, which is a very long time and it's been a wild ride.

I've had to travel to a lot of different countries. I've got a lot of people on it I've met people I would never have met otherwise and to be a part of something of such global interest has been an amazing experience," said Rudd. The actor previously admitted he's been training "like an athlete" in preparation for the 'Ant-Man' movies.

M. Night Shyamalan welcomes reactions to his films

News

M. Night Shyamalan revealed he's amazed his films are being well received by a new generation.

The 52-year-old filmmaker has directed films for more than three decades and said he feels excited for younger viewers to discover his work.

Speaking to Screen Rant, the 'Knock at the Cabin' director said: "I was in Europe when we first started showing the film and influencers from all over the world came over there and got to know me They were shaking and they came up to me...

They're 19 or 21 and they said to me, 'I loved that and I went back and saw one of your films called 'Signs'.' They weren't even born at the time! They were like, 'I was watching this movie you made, an old movie called 'Signs'! It's so beautiful!'" Shyamalan added, "Or they'd be like, 'I was watching a really old movie, 'Unbreakable!' And they've been so excited about it.

The idea of a new generation seeing and learning my films makes me feel... I want to do everything I do with the utmost integrity. It's a work to be seen all the time be and be seen again." And Night's daughter Ishana is also said to be planning a career in filmmaking.

This horror film pushes "Avatar" off the US cinema throne

M. Night Shyamalan's new horror flick "Knock at the Cabin" has ousted "Avatar: The Way of Water" from the cinema throne in the USA. Despite the top ranking, the joy of the makers should be moderate.

Horror strips replace sci-fi spectacles: The US feature film "Knock at the Cabin" by director M. Night Shyamalan has conquered the top of the North American cinema charts, as reported by "The Hollywood Reporter" and "Variety". The film grossed over $14 million on its debut weekend. The psychologically tinged mystery project thus succeeded in dethroning "Avatar: The Way of Water" from the cinema throne. James Cameron's blockbuster previously topped the North American box office for seven straight weeks.

Nevertheless, the respectful success should not trigger unbridled jubilation among those responsible for "Knock At The Cabin". In terms of box office earnings on the debut weekend, no film by M. Night Shyamalan has had a worse start to date. Even the mystery film "Old", widely scorned by critics and audiences, grossed more in 2021 with 16.8 million US dollars - despite the omicron variant of the corona virus, which was still rampant at the time.

Shyamalan's latest horror scenario revolves around a young family vacationing in a cabin. But instead of a quiet break, a real shock awaits them: strangers attack the family and tell them something about an approaching apocalypse. Everything indicates that there will be a totally crazy twist at the end - after all, that's what mystery mastermind M. Night Shyamalan ("The Sixth Sense") is known for. "Knock at the Cabin" starts in German cinemas on February 9th, alongside Dave Bautista, "Harry Potter" star Rupert Grint can also be seen.

"Avatar: The Way of Water" is still chasing records
Even if "Avatar: The Way of Water" has lost the top spot in the US cinema charts for the time being, this does not detract from the success story of the blockbuster. With grossing over two billion US dollars, the visually stunning sci-fi epic currently ranks fourth among the world's most successful films of all time.

James Cameron's first masterpiece "Avatar - Aufbruch nach Pandora" (2009) from the Pandora universe (still) dominates with almost three billion dollars ahead of "Avengers: Endgame" (about 2.8 billion dollars) and "Titanic" (about 2, 2 billion dollars). Soon "Avatar: The Way Of Water" or "Titanic" should leave behind, about 20 million dollars are still missing.

After 6 months in prison in Iran: Jafar Panahi released on bail

The internationally renowned filmmaker Jafar Panahi has surprisingly been released on bail from Iran's Evin prison. Two days ago, the 62-year-old started a hugger strike. He had been in custody since last July.

Jafar Panahi was sentenced to six years in prison for "propaganda against the system" in 2010. He was also in Evin prison when a fire broke out there in connection with protests following the death of Mahsa Amini. Several prisoners died as a result.

The film director had won prizes for his works at important film festivals in Europe. For example, the Golden Lion in Venice for "Der Kreis" and the Golden Bear in Berlin for "Taxi Tehran".

Iran had banned Jafar Panahi from making films for years. And he was also in prison in 2010.

After the announcement of the hunger strike, there was a new wave of international solidarity with the filmmaker. Panahi had stated, "I will continue until perhaps my lifeless body is released."

A photo of Jafar Panahi after being released on bail is making the rounds on the Internet this Friday.

Many of Jafar Panahi's supporters recall that thousands of people are still being held in Iran for their beliefs.
