After criticism of Marvel star: New "Super Mario" trailer shows Donkey Kong and the princess

A brand new trailer has been unveiled for the upcoming "Super Mario Bros. Movie", which for the first time not only gives a glimpse of popular characters.

© Universal Pictures

Actually, everything was right when the very first trailer was unveiled: "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" from Nintendo and Illumination Entertainment has exceeded the expectations of millions of fans in terms of animation quality, with the typical humor of the makers of successful animated films such as "I - Despicable You" and "Minions" really came into their own in the few snippets of the first trailer.

Even the selection of the (US) voices was applauded in the end, after some fans were initially skeptical. But just with the most important role of Mario Mario, fans fear that those responsible for Nintendo's star designer and Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto could have backed the wrong person. In fact, Marvel star Chris Pratt's first words as an Italian-born plumber from Brooklyn sounded less than convincing. To many, he just sounded like himself — and that's after promising something very special that he says he's "worked very hard" on. So it's no wonder that many fans went on the barricades.

Now, as part of a "Nintendo Direct" presentation, a brand new trailer has been unveiled (the comment function on YouTube has been deactivated as a precaution), which gives a deeper look into the upcoming animated film and Pratt's Mario his typical sayings and calls like "Let's-a-go !", "Wohoo!"

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is pure fan service
One thing has to be said in advance: What the inclined fan is offered surpasses everything that one could have hoped for after the first trailer. The Super Mario Bros. Movie, directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, is set to feature plenty of Easter eggs and cameo appearances. There's the nod to the most well-known spin-off video game series in the form of the infamous Rainbow Road from Super Mario Kart. Then fans should have recognized the level design of the good old 2D days including question mark blocks. Not to mention Kugelwilli and the raccoon costume.

Since there was a look at the two Nintendo characters Donkey Kong and Princess Peach for the first time, their US voices also had their say. She couldn't be more excited, says Anya Taylor-Joy, who is basically the perfect live-action version of Princess Peach. She said she had a lot of fun working on the animated film and she hopes audiences and fans will feel the same way. Seth Rogen, who says he's been a Shigeru Miyamoto fan for as long as he can remember, even named his dog after Zelda, a princess from Miyamoto's action-adventure series The Legend of Zelda:

"Even back when I was playing the PlayChoice-10 as a kid, with Mario Bros I was like, 'If they ever make a movie out of this, I have to be there.' I'm happy to say that this dream has come true.”

And one thing becomes clear: Chris Pratt's Mario voice doesn't sound that bad anymore once he's allowed to say more words. Sure, he won't be able to match Charles Martinet, Mario's original voice, any time soon. But he doesn't really have to. In Germany, "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" will start in cinemas on March 23, 2023.

Based on a spectacular case: missed one of the best German thrillers on TV?

Anyone who has little faith in German film should now read on carefully. More than two decades ago, Hans-Christian Schmid marked a turning point in German cinema history with his film “23 – Nothing is as it seems”. Here you can find out why you shouldn't miss the thriller and where you can watch it in the stream.

The German director Hans-Christian Schmid is currently proving in the cinema with the drama "We are then probably the relatives" that he is one of the best in his squad and knows how to translate classic thriller material into sober, but no less depressing images.

The tragic case of the young hacker Karl Koch, who together with like-minded people carried out the legendary KGB hack in the 1980s, also belongs to such classic thriller material.

Koch and the others hacked into alien systems around the world and ended up working as spies for the KGB. Cook, obsessed with the number 23, believed he was on the trail of the Illuminati and acting in the service of world peace, but slipped deeper and deeper into cocaine addiction and gradually alienated himself from his closest friends and fellow hackers, the finally got him admitted.

Koch, who defined himself as a left-wing activist throughout his life, later worked as a messenger – for the CDU of all things. However, he never returned from his last errand trip.

His charred body was found a short time later in a forest in Lower Saxony. He died presumably on May 23, 1989 at the age of 23. The exact circumstances of his death are still unclear to this day.

Yesterday, Monday, November 28, the ARD offshoot One showed Schmid's congenial cinematic translation of a spectacular and shocking case in German hacker history at 8:15 p.m.

"23 - Nothing is as it seems" masterfully traces the inexorable path of self-destruction in form and content and is brilliantly cast with German actors such as August Diehl, Burghardt Klaußner and Hanns Zischler - 99 minutes of high tension guaranteed! If you missed the TV broadcast, you can alternatively stream the film on Amazon for a small rental fee or buy it directly there.

The devil won't know what abilities an abnormal or crazy person like Denji has.

So that there is no fear of death or abnormality that makes the devil afraid.

The teacher also said that if Himeno comes to a friend's meal every month then the head screws are still tight.

It is known that the Chainsaw Man series itself was adapted from the Manga written by Tatsuki Fujitama.

The manga itself was released in December 2016.

New film adaptation of the novel planned: Bambi becomes the "diabolical killing machine"

Two US filmmakers plan to take advantage of the loss of copyright on the original 1923 Bambi novel to turn the innocent fawn into a killing machine.

Disney's Bambi is innocence personified. Now ITN Studios and Jagged Edged Productions want to reverse the image of the cute fawn and retell the story - title: "Bambi: The Reckoning". Producer Rhys Frake-Waterfield warned "Dread Central" in advance: "Get ready for Bambi with rabies", the fawn should become "a devilish killing machine" that "sneaks through the wilderness."

Frake-Waterfield is the executive producer of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, which is set for US release early next year. Bambi, the second Disney classic, is also due to receive a splatter remake at the beginning of next year. This is possible because the copyright for "Winnie The Pooh" ended earlier this year and everyone is now allowed to use this character. The situation is similar with Bambi. The copyright rights to "Bambi. Eine Lebensgeschichte im Walde" have expired since 2016, the Disney film adaptation was based on the novel by Austrian writer Felix Salten.

Producer Rhys Frake-Waterfield and director Scott Jeffrey are now free to use the template. However, any Disney elements of Bambi's character are still off-limits to the filmmakers. It is therefore not yet possible to predict what Bambi will look like as a killing machine and whether he will take the death of his mother as an opportunity for a revenge campaign across the undergrowth.

Out of shame: Daniel Craig hid his own films in the video store

Unusual confession from Daniel Craig: The former Bond actor used to hide video cassettes of films in which he had acted in the video store.

News Daniel Craig

Many actors don't like to see themselves in films, Daniel Craig even went one step further: As he now told in an interview with "Yahoo! Movies", he hid VHS cassettes when visiting the "Blockbuster" video store chain of films in which he acted but which, in hindsight, he didn't think were good.

Back when the chain still existed, he often went there to rent films himself, Craig recalls. By then he had already made a few films himself. "If I saw one of my films on the shelf, I would pick it up and throw it under the counter," the former James Bond actor admitted. "I knew it wouldn't make much of a difference, but I thought if even one less person saw the film, that would be a good thing."

Dave Bautista: Daniel Craig wasn't the happiest person as Bond
He's probably happier with his work now - and according to his Knives Out co-star Dave Bautista, Craig is also more relaxed now that his 007 stint is over. The "Guardians of the Galaxy" star, who played an opponent of the famous secret agent in "James Bond 007: Spectre", recently said in an "Entertainment Weekly" interview that it was too sweet that Craig was filming Bond "was under a lot of pressure" and "didn't seem the happiest person". When working together on "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery", however, he was very different: "He was so funny and always smiling," says Bautista.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, currently in cinemas and available on Netflix December 23, sees Daniel Craig reprising his role as detective Benoit Blanc and co-starring Dave Bautista and Janelle Monáe, Edward Norton, Kate Hudson and Ethan Hawke.
