New trailer for the Halo series shows more about the story

The characters are the focus of a new trailer for the Halo series. It is through them that the adaptation of one of the biggest Xbox video game franchises will unfold, with the story of the combat between humans and aliens and the discovery of an interplanetary weapon, which gives the show its name, serving as a turning point and possible total annihilation.

Moral questions also gain space as the Master Chief's past (Pablo Schreiber, from Orange is the New Black) seems more explored. He is a soldier genetically modified and shaped for the war to come, but at the same time, his own creation is put in jeopardy by the inhumanity of the process created by Dr. Catherine Halsey (Natascha McElhone, Californication).

Among grandiose action scenes and many special effects is the transposition to the screens of the initial plots of the Halo franchise, which has been released frequently since 2001, when it first hit the market. The series has already explored different game genres and expanded into other mediums, with the launch of the streaming-exclusive Paramount+ series being another step in that direction — and also one of the grandest.

The creators' idea is to humanize the story, presenting concepts that are recognizable to fans of the games, but also bring dramatic charge and involve those who have never played. That is, you can expect a series of changes, mainly in focus, as the trailer already shows by placing human dramas, including those of the Master Chief himself, at the center of the story - including even the revelation of a very well kept secret in the games.

The Halo cast also has Yerin Há (Reef Break), Bokeem Woodbine (Fargo), Olive Gray (Rose) and Shabana Azmi (24) in central roles. Jen Taylor, who plays the artificial intelligence Cortana in the games, reprises her role in the 10-episode series that debuts March 24, exclusively on Paramount+.

Sonic: The Movie 2 gets a trailer full of nostalgia and references to the games

The fastest blue hedgehog in games is back in theaters - and appealing a lot to nostalgia. The new trailer for Sonic: The Movie 2, released by Paramount Pictures this morning (14), shows more of the hero's return, gives details of the new plot, makes reference to classic games and even shows what we can expect from arrival of Tails and Knuckles.

Most read articles:

The humorous tone of the first feature is again present, as well as the relationship between Sonic and the character of James Marsden. So much so that the trailer opens with the hedgehog breaking into Rachel's (Natasha Rothwell) wedding while escaping with Tails from an army of Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey).

In fact, the villain appears in the sequel with motivations much closer to those that fans know from the games than in the first film. So much so that much of the plot must revolve around the hunt for the Chaos Emeralds, the iconic jewels that are part of the series' mythology and that guarantee infinite power to those who dominate them. And that's what will appeal to Carrey's character.

And that's where we'll see the long-awaited clash between Sonic and Knuckles. The echidna voiced by Idris Elba had already been shown before, but now we see more clearly both the actor's interpretation and the antihero's ability to beat Sonic down.

For those who are crazy about references and easter eggs, the trailer already brings a good dose of mentions to the games. Starting with the classic theme song that plays on Marsden's cell phone as in the snowboarding scene, which is a very fun game with the Sonic Riders series games, which had the hedgehog doing extreme sports.

In addition, the poster released by Paramount also plays with video games, recreating the iconic art of Sonic The Hedgehog 2, for Mega Drive, but with the characters from the film.

Sonic: The Movie 2 hits Brazilian theaters on April 7.

Elizabeth McGovern: Why is Downton Abbey so successful?

news Hbo

Elizabeth McGovern doesn't understand the popularity of 'Downton Abbey'.

Speaking to the UK edition of OK! magazine, she said: "People ask me why the show has been so successful over the years and I have no idea. I do not get it. I'm just thankful. But viewers identify with it for a variety of reasons.”

Elizabeth also thought doing the 'Downton' films would be a bigger and better experience than working on the TV show. But the actress found on set that there was little difference. She shared: "The funny thing is that it felt very similar. I thought the on-set snacks were better, but no...they weren't.

We were in the same house, we stayed in the same little bed and breakfasts around Highclere Castle. The film looked and felt so much bigger, more expansive and more ambitious than the TV show, but the actual act of shooting really feels the same.”

Miracleman, one of the most important characters in the modern trajectory of comics, is celebrating 40 years in 2022 since he was redefined by Alan Moore in the 1980s as a complex and dark champion - and taking advantage of the date, Marvel, current holder of the rights to the hero, is preparing several publications for this year.

The most recent announcement is the bound Miracleman by Gaiman & Buckingham Book 1: The Golden Age, which will bring together the first six editions of the hero written by Neil Gaiman, author of the masterpiece Sandman, published in 1992.

In total, Gaiman and Buckingham's run on the title spanned 24 issues — stopping midway through the "Silver Age," second of three planned arcs by the duo. The recently announced booklet by Marvel encompasses the first saga, “Golden Age”, the only one completed by the authors. The last story would be titled "Dark Ages", but it never got off the ground.

The booklet will be made available both digitally and in paperback with a carton cover in October 2022 from Marvel.

2022 is the year of the Miracleman
The release of the binding is another of the titles that Marvel has been doing with Miracleman since the character returned in the pages of Timeless #1, with the publisher possibly laying the groundwork for a greater connection between the hero and the main universe of his comics.

Also in 2022, Marvel will publish Miracleman Omnibus, a luxury book that will compile the entire phase of the hero written by Alan Moore in the 1980s — which means that along with the announcement of Miracleman by Gaiman & Buckingham Book 1: The Golden Age, the The only period of the character that is not easily accessible is 1954, which encompasses the champion's first appearance, in addition to all the stories scripted by its creator, Mick Anglo.
