Danish actor Lars Mikkelsen (58) will play the "Star Wars" villain Grand Admiral Thrawn in the upcoming Disney+ series "Ahsoka". Lucasfilm announced this at the "Star Wars Celebration" in London. Mikkelsen took the stage at the end of the panel with other stars of the project, as seen on Twitter.
Thrawn first appeared in "Star Wars" novels by Timothy Zahn (71), which dealt with the events after "Return of the Jedi" (1983). In the books, Thrawn was an Imperial Grand Admiral who takes control of what remains of the Imperial fleet and launches a counteroffensive to bring down the New Republic. Thrawn was also in the animated series "Star Wars Rebels" - voiced by Lars Mikkelsen. The actor is also known from "House of Cards" and "Sherlock".
That's what "Ahsoka" is about
The live-action series Star Wars: Ahsoka, a spin-off of The Mandalorian, is slated to launch this summer. In it, fan favorite Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson, 43) returns. Anakin Skywalker's former Padawan is expected to go in search of Grand Admiral Thrawn and her missing friend Ezra Bridger in the miniseries.
In addition to Dawson, Natasha Liu Bordizzo (28) as Sabine Wren and Hayden Christensen (41) as Anakin Skywalker have already been confirmed for "Star Wars: Ahsoka". Since Darth Vader/Anakin is already dead by the time of "Star Wars: Ahsoka," actor Christensen will likely appear in flashbacks.
