• Before "Deadpool 2", Josh Brolin was about to take over the role of Bruce Wayne in Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice".
    When Zack Snyder announced that he was going to make a "Batman v Superman" movie, there was a lot of speculation as to who would take over the role of Bruce Wayne / Batman.


     
    Henry Cavill would return as Superman after Cavill and Snyder previously collaborated on "Man of Steel". Would Christian Bale return a fourth time? Ben Affleck was fine, would it be him? Or maybe Josh Brolin? Brolin recently visited the podcast Happy Sad Confused and confirms that he was one of those whom Snyder considered for the role of Batman.
     
    - It sounded interesting to me (...) Something that is designed to either fail completely or fly high. I like those odds. Is it me who will make the film fail ?, Brolin says about "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and continues:
     
    - The idea was an older, hoarse Batman. It would honestly have been fun, and maybe something I do when I'm 80 years old.

    The role went instead to Ben Affleck who, despite the criticism of the film in general, received much praise (rightly) for his portrayal. And despite the fact that Affleck dropped out of the role after "Justice League", we will soon see him again as Batman in "The Flash" which premieres June 23, 2023.
     
    Brolin instead became successful in Marvel's universe as the time-traveling Cable in "Deadpool 2" and above all as the supervillain Thanos in "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Avengers: Endgame". So it was pretty successful anyway if you ask me.
