Here's how Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are doing a year after the trial

Exactly one year ago, the sensational defamation trial between Johnny Depp (59) and Amber Heard (36) began in the US state of Virginia. On June 1 of last year, the Fairfax County jury returned its verdict, and found Depp largely correct. The lawsuit was finally settled in late 2022, when Heard agreed to pay her ex-husband $1 million as part of a settlement.

That's what happened to Amber Heard and Johnny Depp since the trial ended
Some unnamed insiders who are said to be close to the ex-spouses have now revealed to the US magazine "People" how the stars have fared since the end of the six-week trial. Amber Heard "can't wait to leave the United States with her daughter" after the verdict. Oonagh Paige, the actress' daughter, turned two earlier this month.

Amber Heard enjoys privacy in Spain
Since then, Heard has been said to live in Spain, where she has more privacy. The process was "more than exhausting" for the 36-year-old, who, according to the inside source, "simply longed for a new start outside the United States". In addition, Heard was "excited to be back at work and in front of the camera".

In the meantime, however, nothing has changed in the actress' feelings regarding the outcome of the defamation process. "She was exhausted and disappointed with the process," the insider says. Heard felt she had been "treated badly."

Johnny Depp is 'focused on work'
After the legal dispute ended positively for him, superstar Johnny Depp first went on tour last year and shared the stage with his good friend, the late guitarist Jeff Beck (1944-2023). Immediately afterwards, the 59-year-old threw himself into the shooting of his new film "Jeanne Du Barry".

The filming of the historical film was "challenging" for Depp, but at the same time the actor is "excited about his comeback," reveals the anonymous source. The film "Jeanne Du Barry" by French director Maïwenn (46) will open this year's Cannes Film Festival on May 16, which is "perfect" in the eyes of leading actor Depp.

Hollywood star is said to be single
The former "Pirates of the Caribbean" star is said to be staying abroad for the most part at the end of the sensational court case. "Johnny has lived in Europe since the trial. He is dating but has no girlfriend," the inside source added.

Daniel and Patrice Aminati: Unbroken desire to have children despite cancer concerns

Instead of being able to fully enjoy the new joys of parenting, Daniel (49) and Patrice Aminati (29) are in a state of emergency. During a routine examination, the TV presenter's wife was diagnosed with "malignant (black) skin cancer, which has already formed metastases," as Aminati announced via Instagram in early April. But the couple does not let this shocking news get them down and, in an interview with "Bild", proves that they are "optimistic about the future", as the moderator puts it. In the best-case scenario, the family should be even bigger in the future.

"We want a second child," reveals Patrice Aminati. "Our daughter Charly Malika gives us so much joy that I would go through a difficult pregnancy like the one I had with Charly at any time. This desire to have children gives me the strength to endure everything now." She had previously written on Instagram: "Now the thought makes me sad that my greatest wish - to have a child again quickly after the birth of our daughter - has to be postponed indefinitely." But the Aminatis have no doubts that one day it will be that time again.

Further tests should provide information
Next Wednesday (April 12) will be a trend-setting day in the fight against cancer and for the future. Then the 29-year-old will undergo a so-called PET-CT. This is to check whether other metastases have formed in your body.

"In addition to the tumor, Patrice also had the affected lymph nodes removed from her neck. We hope that the cancer will have disappeared from her body. If that is not the case, the PET-CT will show it. If Patrice is free of metastases, it would be That's a first ray of hope," says the worried husband, who just "feels completely powerless".

In April 2022, the two said yes after a relationship of several years. They became parents the following August. Just two weeks before the birth of little Charly Malika, Aminati had to share another piece of bad news. "My middle sister Deborah's heart stopped beating on the night of August 3, 2022," he wrote on Instagram. She was only 46 years old. Aminati says he spoke to her the night before Deborah died. She died "after decades of excessive alcohol consumption".

"Star Wars" series "Ahsoka": Lars Mikkelsen becomes the villain

Danish actor Lars Mikkelsen (58) will play the "Star Wars" villain Grand Admiral Thrawn in the upcoming Disney+ series "Ahsoka". Lucasfilm announced this at the "Star Wars Celebration" in London. Mikkelsen took the stage at the end of the panel with other stars of the project, as seen on Twitter.

Thrawn first appeared in "Star Wars" novels by Timothy Zahn (71), which dealt with the events after "Return of the Jedi" (1983). In the books, Thrawn was an Imperial Grand Admiral who takes control of what remains of the Imperial fleet and launches a counteroffensive to bring down the New Republic. Thrawn was also in the animated series "Star Wars Rebels" - voiced by Lars Mikkelsen. The actor is also known from "House of Cards" and "Sherlock".

That's what "Ahsoka" is about
The live-action series Star Wars: Ahsoka, a spin-off of The Mandalorian, is slated to launch this summer. In it, fan favorite Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson, 43) returns. Anakin Skywalker's former Padawan is expected to go in search of Grand Admiral Thrawn and her missing friend Ezra Bridger in the miniseries.

In addition to Dawson, Natasha Liu Bordizzo (28) as Sabine Wren and Hayden Christensen (41) as Anakin Skywalker have already been confirmed for "Star Wars: Ahsoka". Since Darth Vader/Anakin is already dead by the time of "Star Wars: Ahsoka," actor Christensen will likely appear in flashbacks.

That's why Nikolaj Coster-Waldau can't watch "House of the Dragon"

Like his "Game of Thrones" colleague Emilia Clarke (36), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (52) cannot watch the prequel series "House of the Dragon". "One day it started and I saw the opening credits. And it was a bit strange because it was the same music," he explained in an interview with "Entertainment Weekly".

The opening sequence was also "somehow similar" to "Game of Thrones", said Coster-Waldau. "I thought, 'Ah, that's too early, too early.'" However, Jaime Lannister's actor does not believe that he will completely avoid the prequel, which takes place almost 200 years before the events of "GoT", in the future. "I'll wait. I'll wait a few seasons and then I can watch [...]." But he knows that many fans have fallen in love with the new series and are happy about it.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau played Jaime Lannister in 55 episodes from 2011 to 2019. The Dane was nominated for a number of awards for his performance, including two Emmys.

Still "too strange" for Emilia Clarke
Emilia Clarke, who played Daenerys Targaryen on GoT, had a similar explanation earlier this year for not having seen House of the Dragon herself. It still feels "too strange", at least at the moment, she revealed to "Variety" in an interview.
