Dwayne Johnson Is More Powerful Than Superman In First Black Adam teaser trailer

When Dwayne Johnson finally makes his big screen debut as Black Adam next summer, we can expect to see a character unlike anything else in the comic book universe. Long ensconced in its Justice League group of characters, DC’s universe has had little in the way of moral ambiguity regarding right and wrong. But that will change when Dwayne Johnson dons the black suit and unleashes the lightning in the next film. According to a newly released scene from Black Adam, the film will begin with some people biting off far more than they can chew with this character who appears anything but benevolent. In fact, it appears to be quite the opposite.

Dwayne Johnson hints at a change in the DC Universe’s power structure while debuting an opening scene from Black Adam at the DC FanDome event. If anything, this could be considered a significant understatement. Johnson explains that, while the film is still in the works, they were able to share a first look at the character. It’s an early scene in the film, and it’s our first chance to see Black Adam take centre stage. Here’s a first look at the character and what DC has in store for him:

Wow. Just…wow. Dwayne Johnson wasn’t joking when he said Black Adam had the opportunity to reorder some of the power structure and dynamics within the DC Universe. We see a group of soldiers and explorers combing through a cave full of ancient structures and hieroglyphics, only to make the fatal error of touching something they shouldn’t. They unleash and reawaken Black Adam by using the operative word “Shazam!” This proves to be a huge mistake, at least at first. It’s difficult to tell what they’ve brought back into this world because they’re shrouded in a hood and standing deathly still.

And it’s at this point that Dwayne Johnson’s performance as Black Adam leaves no doubt. In approaching the cloaked figure, one brave but ultimately doomed soldier makes the first mistake. It’s at this point that we start to see some of Black Adam’s true power. He reduces this dude to a pile of bones and then a pile of dust with a swift grip of the neck and a surge of power.

The second error occurs at this point. Instead of fleeing, the soldiers open fire on Black Adam, revealing where his powers intersect with Superman’s. Not only do the bullets have little effect, but he snatches one out of thin air like it’s candy. We’re dealing with a different kind of DC “hero” here. And Dwayne Johnson has stated that Black Adam will not begin on the good side when he is first introduced. Given what he’s just witnessed, that appears to be an understatement.

Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam eventually joins forces with Dr. Fate and the rest of the Justice Society of America, eventually siding with the good guys (we think). Black Adam is currently in post-production, and there is still a long way to go before we see the entire storey unfold. It won’t be released in theatres until July of next year. Until then, we can only fantasise (or have nightmares about) this character’s immense power.

"The White House on the Rhine": Charlie Chaplin and Hitler next door?

Just in time for the Day of German Unity, the first is dedicating its evening program to a place on the Rhine steeped in history and, with a view of the Drachenfels, quite magical in appearance, which has always been embedded in the great political upheavals of the 20th century. In the grand hotel of the Dreesen family in the southern Bonn district of Bad Godesberg, located directly on the river, the powerful from politics and society came and went. The property, founded in 1893/94, has been a noble hostel, Hitler's favorite hotel, prison camp, refugee home and diplomatic residence over the course of time. Treaties were signed in the Rhenish provinces and historic milestones were set before the government moved to Berlin.

That's what the TV two-parter with a top cast is about
The two-part TV series "Das Weiße Haus am Rhein" (3 October, 8:15 p.m. and 9:45 p.m.) embeds world history during the Weimar Republic (1918-1933) in the history of the Dreesen hotelier dynasty and is based on loud Production partly based on real events. The focus is on Emil Dreesen (Jonathan Berlin, born 1994), who survived the First World War (1914-1918) traumatized and returns to his family in the hotel, which has meanwhile been occupied by French soldiers. His nationalist father Fritz Dreesen (Benjamin Sadler, 51, "Krupp - Eine deutsche Familie"), the also backward-looking mother Maria Dreesen (Katharina Schüttler, 42, "Unsere Mutter,Unsere Väter") and Emil's Jewish grandmother Adelheid Dreesen (Nicole Heesters, 85, "Meschugge") are fighting to stay in the hotel.

Emil has the same goal, but he strikes different, more modern tones. He wants to come to terms with the French, wrests concessions from them and so the family is allowed to continue running the hotel for the time being. In order to attract new guests, the 21-year-old, with the support of his younger sister Ulla (Pauline Rénevier, 23, "Sisi") and much to the dismay of his parents, relies on the internationally oriented and revealing pop culture and entertainment of the wild and experimental 1920s . Emil gets support from his fun-loving grandmother and hotel co-founder. As the first real star, Emil invites the British artist Charlie Chaplin (1889-1977, "The Great Dictator", 1940).

Backstories in the documentation
It only shows up later. The scenes in which the Australian actor Stephen Multari as Chaplin steals the buns from his hotel room neighbor Hitler (1889-1945) - embodied by the Swiss actor Max Gertsch (58) - in order to use the legendary bun dance scene from his silent film comedy "Gold Rush" (1825) is one of the highlights of the TV two-parter. In the subsequent documentation, the persistent rumor that Chaplin and Hitler lived next door to each other in the Grand Hotel Dreesen is also addressed.

Said documentary is shown according to the "topics of the day" (11:15 p.m.). In "Rheinhotel Dreesen" (from 11:35 p.m.), which is also the name of the grand hotel today, some references to the two films are historically substantiated. In addition, viewers can find out how the traditional hotel is doing these days and who will soon be taking over the management in the fifth generation.

An interesting and important topic evening
All in all, the TV audience can expect an interesting evening if you overlook the fact that most of the characters in the two films are drawn rather one-dimensionally and undergo little to no development, or are given little space. The undoubtedly fabulous acting doesn't change that much either. Even the love stories with Elsa Wahlen (Henriette Confurius, 31, "Tannbach - Destiny of a Village") or with Claire Deltour (Deleila Piasko, 31, "Stasikomödie") seem amazingly callous - but maybe it was like that after the horrors of the First World War .

Nevertheless, the story picks up speed, especially in the second part of the film. Quite a few historical aspects tempt you to google and that is exactly the big plus point of this theme evening. Because only those who know history can ensure that it does not repeat itself. And so the conclusion can only be: The special history of this hotel with the white facade in Bad Godesberg is rightly the focus of a full-length program and cannot be forgotten.

By the way, at the very end one of the protagonists makes a surprising decision - and here one wishes for a continuation of the story...

The "Terminator" director dissatisfied - does not believe in more sequels in the same piece

Tim Miller, who directed "Terminator: Dark Fate," has opened up about the film's flop and is speaking out about the future of the franchise.

One of the guests at this weekend's Comic-Con in San Diego was Tim Miller, the director behind the first "Deadpool" and the producer behind "Love, Death & Robots". In a panel discussion, Miller opened up about his work behind "Terminator: Dark Fate," which he directed, and says that trying to bring the franchise to life was a mistake. Just like with "Terminator 3", Terminator Salvation" and "Terminator Genisys", the new film did not meet expectations and intended sequels were scrapped.

Tim Miller speaks about the future of "Terminator" and the director is candid about his effort and what he thinks about the upcoming films:

- "Terminator" is an interesting film to explore, but maybe we did it too much. I went into it with a rock-solid geek belief that if I made a good film that I wanted to see, it would do well [financially]. And I had wrong. It was one of those damn eureka moments in a bad way, because the movie flopped.

- I think if you make a "Terminator" movie with a lower budget, a good director and movie star can make it awesome. It can be done with sock puppets and it can be amazing. I would like to make a computer-animated “Terminator”.

After "T2: Judgment Day" they have tried to make a worthy sequel four times. All times have failed, and with the latest attempt - “Terminator: Dark Fate”, even James Cameron was on board, trying to bring the series he once created to life.

Instead of more movies in the series, Netflix is currently working on a "Terminator" anime instead. Perhaps this is a better approach than making yet another high-budget film that doesn't deliver, with an aging Arnold Schwarzenegger who has to be rejuvenated time and time again with CGI.

Is the "Terminator" franchise dead, or should more movies be made?

Selena Gomez turns 30: Five exciting facts about the US star

She is a singer, actress, voice actress and now also a successful entrepreneur: Selena Gomez celebrates her 30th birthday on July 22nd. Her career began with a role in the television series "Barney and Friends" when Gomez was ten years old. Disney then became aware of the actress, who was born in Texas in 1992, and made her a star through various series roles. Here are exciting facts about her film and music successes, her love life, her illness and her popularity with other stars.

Films, series, dubbing and music albums
Selena Gomez had her big break in 2007 with the role of the protagonist Alex Russo in the Disney Channel series "Wizards of Waverly Place". Other guest appearances in series such as "Hannah Montana", "Zack & Cody on Board" or "Sonny Munroe" soon followed, which ultimately helped her get her first film roles: In the Disney films "Another Cinderella Story" (2008), "Princessinnen Gomez starred in "Protection Program" (2009), "Suddenly Star" (2011) and "Spring Breakers" (2012) - and made a name for himself with teenagers around the world in the 2000s and 2010s.

In 2016, the American was seen alongside Seth Rogen (40) and Zac Efron (34) in "Bad Neighbors 2" and in 2019 in the romantic comedy "A Rainy Day in New York" alongside Timothée Chalamet (26) and Elle Fanning (24). Most recently, Gomez also starred in the popular Disney+ series Only Murders in the Building alongside acting heavyweights Steve Martin (76) and Martin Short (72). The series is nominated for a total of 17 Emmys this year.

It seems almost impossible that the 30-year-old still has time to stand in the recording studio for all the film projects. But Gomez has been juggling acting and music for years. Her musical beginnings came in the mid-2000s with her band Selena Gomez & the Scene, with whom she released three albums. However, she was able to achieve greater success in the music industry as a solo artist: her three solo albums "Stars Dance" (2013), "Revival" (2015) and "Rare" (2020) all reached the top of the US charts and were Awarded multiple gold and platinum awards.

As if that wasn't enough, Gomez also regularly lent her voice to characters in animated films such as "Horton Hears a Who!", "Hotel Transylvania" or "The Fantastic Journey of Dr. Dolittle".

Own beauty empire?
A few years ago, Selena Gomez became an entrepreneur with Rare Beauty. The products of her own beauty brand, such as vegan lipsticks, foundation or eyeliner, are in demand all over the world. With her make-up line, Gomez wants to help people to gain more self-acceptance, which she has also had to learn over the years. "Being rare means being comfortable with yourself. I stopped trying to be perfect. I just want to be me," she is quoted as saying on the Rare Beauty website.

This is how she deals with her illness
Selena Gomez has struggled with health issues over the years. But she doesn't make a secret of it. In 2015, she publicly announced that she was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease lupus in 2013, which left her suffering from depression and panic attacks. In 2017, she also received a kidney donation from her friend, as she announced in an Instagram post. In 2020, Gomez also spoke about her bipolar disorder on the Instagram talk show Bright Minded.

How does she deal with it? Gomez abstains from social media. On "Good Morning America" she revealed in April 2022 that she had not been on the Internet for more than four years. She has her channels taken care of, giving her more time for her mental health. "It's completely changed my life. I'm happier, I'm more present. I connect with people more. It makes me feel normal," Gomez gushed.

Proud permanent single
Liaisons with Nick Jonas (29), Justin Bieber (28) and The Weeknd (32) apparently didn't last forever for Selena Gomez. The singer has been proudly single for several years. But she has no problem with her relationship status, as she recently said in a TikTok video: "I'm totally fine with being single."

Stars love Selena Gomez
Instead, the musician seems to spend a lot of time with her friends, including numerous stars. Private snapshots with Taylor Swift (32), Chris Martin (45), DJ Snake (36), Olivia Wilde (38) and Cara Delevingne (29) can be found on her Instagram account.

Recently, Britney Spears (40) raved about Gomez on Instagram after the actress was a guest at her wedding to Sam Asghari (28): "You are such a special person." The photos make it clear that despite the hurdles and downsides of the public hubbub, Gomez appears to be at peace.
